The first pillar of a successful globalization strategy: Operational Excellence
Operational Excellence is the first line of protection for the developed world as far as jobs and added value are concerned.
If wages in one part of a more interconnected world are 20 times higher than in the other part, then companies that are paying higher wages must be 20 times more efficient than companies in low cost countries.
Although methods exist and despite the fact that they are quite well used, there are still a large number of companies with low productivity and poor organization.
It is hardly surprising that quite a few of them have had to shut down factories as they are not competitive.
